Professor Tom Addiscott Soil Scientist, Computer Modeller and Writer MA, PhD, DSc, FI Soil Sci.

Long experience in soil science research underpinned by a sound understanding of statistics, probability and risk. Fellow of the Institute of Professional Soil Scientists.

Extensive knowledge of the processes involved in losses of nitrate, phosphate and agrochemicals from land to surface waters and the resulting environmental problems. Strong interest in the health aspects of the nitrate problem.

Has developed several widely-used computer models and has cogent opinions on the use and abuse of computer modelling.

Enjoys writing about science for the layman. Has written a book about the nitrate problem and articles for New Scientist and other popular scientific and farming magazines.
